Centering edges, narrow shoulders, and recesses on "T"-plates provide a diameter reading straight across the diameter for measuring internal and external diameters.
As a side-stop or centralizer, a third contact could be utilized.
"V"-plates centralize on themselves. The distance between the sensitive contact and the chord created by the two reference contacts is measured using three jaws. This measurement has a direct relationship to the diameter, and a unique ratio indicator acts as compensation to allow for direct reading of the diameter. utilized to check components with irregular lobe characteristics.
