Drives must be monitored for rotational speed or standstill in many industrial applications. Speed sensors are used in the automotive, food, steel, and mining industries to safely detect standstill, overspeed, and underspeed of drives, as well as belt break on conveyors. Speed sensors are used as speed pick-ups on mobile machines like forklift trucks. In a single unit, speed sensors detect and monitor rotational speed. Inductive or magnetic sensing principles are used by the sensor head. Metal actuating surfaces of a spinning machine part are detected by the sensor. This data is converted into rotational speed via the integrated evaluation.
